Hawks Take Flight for 2018

The Cardiff Hawks commenced their preparations for the 2018 BDAFL season at Hillsborough Oval on Tuesday night.

The Hawks were minor and major premiers in reserve grade and runners-up in the first grade minor and major championships in 2017 and are determined to repeat the reserve grade success and go one better in the BDAFL premiership next season.

The club made a solid start to its 2018 campaign with over fifty players attending the initial pre-season training session. Hawkette’s team co-coaches Paul Cooksley and Pete Youman were particularly impressed with the number of ladies that turned out for the first night of training.

Training will change to Monday’s and Thursday’s at 6.00pm at Hillsborough Oval from next week until Christmas. A pre-season BBQ will be held after training next Thursday (30/11) with families and prospective players welcome to attend.

The 2018 ISC training apparel will be rolled out to the entire playing group in early January.

The 2017 season success has had a significant and positive ‘knock on’ effect with a number of prospective sponsors approaching the club about becoming involved with the Hawks next season. We have also fielded several enquiries from players that are relocating to Newcastle.

It’s an exciting time for our club and reflects the hard work that is being put in both on and off the field. We are close to finalising some arrangements that will make sure that our hard work is supported by a solid social calendar next year.
