Coaching Director- Rowan Bilkey

Rowan comes to us from a highly developed and knowledgeable football background. Rowan has spent some 17 years in senior football, which includes 50 games in the NEAFL league. He has played a total of 180 senior games for Sydney East Coast Eagles, winning premierships in 2009-2011 and again in 2016.

What Rowan Has To Say:

“Pre-Christmas training will be based heavily on skills basics. We are developing a game style that we think will stand up to finals pressure that relies on executing basic skills. Kicking efficiency, handballing under pressure and pressure acts when not in possession. We need to get these right before moving on to anything more complex. Game movement and match simulation will be introduced post-Christmas. We are excited by the prospect of introducing fresh ideas and building on our already strong culture, with the aim of improving our positions in each of our grades.”

Rowan will be joined by our very own Nick ‘Doc’ Tomlinson. We have all seen Doc’s passion around the club both on and off the field, and his actions reflect what the Hawks are all about. Nick comes to us from 19 seasons of senior football experience, including a whopping 255 State League games across the QAFL & NEAFL competitions, and is a 6 time First Grade premiership winner across those seasons.

Nick’s involvement will extend to coaching this season, while he will continue to be heavily involved with the ‘Cardifference’ Player Welfare Program.

One of Cardiff’s favourite sons, Adam Clarke returns to the club, joining Bilkey and Nick. If you’re looking for Adam’s credentials from a playing background, simply look at the First Grade Best & Fairest Honors List and his name appears multiple times. As well as being a part of the Hawks First Grade triple premierships in the early 2000’s.

Adam’s involvement with sport and exercise science and his passion for fitness will certainly hold our playing groups in great shape to attack the 2019 Season.

What Adam Has To Say:

In the early stages we will have a strong focus on injury reduction strategies-engagement & strengthening key areas through the players core, hips and glutes, with an additional strength building pre-season program. Adam went on to say “There is a difference between interest and commitment. When you are interested in something you do it when it’s convenient. When you are committed to something you except no excuses, only RESULTS.”

The club encourages all current players and new players to come along and be involved. It’s a collective effort from everyone that will see our club blossom in 2019.
